Sharing My Cuban Food

Sharing world food with the locals

I love sharing my food and my culture

Cuban food is so delicious and flavorful... I just had the opportunity to share some Cuban dishes with the chef of Gigamunch. Gigamunch is a subscription-based company here in Nashville who delivers meals once a week from different countries to its members. I enjoyed sharing recipes from my homeland, and I can't tell you what the final menu will be, but I can assure you that it will be delicious and not spicy as our dishes do not call for jalapenos or black peppers! I'm very grateful to Enis Cirak for showcasing Cuba in one of his upcoming food delivery and for choosing me to be the person to teach the chef our recipes. Stay tuned!

On other news, Cuban people will get a raise in their salaries. This is the first time ever that the Cuban government decided to raise state salaries as part of their economic reform plan. The Cuban president Diaz Canel said that "it is an incremental salary increase then later reform will come." I'm not sure what does that means but makes me wonder if the monetary unification is coming soon. As you know, Cuba has two currencies; the Cuban peso (CUP) and the Cuban Convertible currency (CUC). I know, very confusing! Even for me that I have to deal with three, not two. Anyway, according to the national news, the new salary will be $17 a month while the average wage would increase from $32 to $44 and a little bit of a raise for state pensions. My brother told me about it by email saying: "this is big news." In fact, it is big news, but you may think that is not a lot of money and not everyone will get the benefits.

Talking about different destinations, how about Pamplona, Spain for a trip of a lifetime?! I will be heading to Spain this week for the San Fermin festivities and for the most famous festival of the year: The Running of the Bulls! Of course, I will be just watching from the balcony and translating for my fellow travelers that do not speak Spanish. This will be my first trip to Spain and will be posting photos and videos on my social media pages, so keep an eye out for my journey! I will be learning everything about it and hope you join me next year for the festivities.

Bali (Indonesia) FAM Trip
Are you looking for a Winter Escape? How about this FAM trip to Bali. Set amidst emerald green rice paddies and steep ravines in the stunning central Balinese foothills, Ubud was originally a valuable source of medicinal herbs and plants. Visit Ubud art market located in the center of the town just opposite the Palace, stroll in the market and through the streets - the only way to appreciate the special atmosphere one will find here. Ubud Kingdom Palace is a traditional Balinese house as a residence of Ubud King. The palace can also be regarded as the focal landmark of Ubud.
